Compare the Math: What is the cost of the repair versus the cost of a new unit? An industry standard guideline is The Rule of 5,000. Use this formula to help you decide: multiply the age of your unit by the repair cost, and if the total is under 5,000, a repair is usually the way to go. Of course, there are always other considerations so please ask a trustworthy technician for a second opinion.
